Handcrafts in a Bookstore?                                            

Step into our store and you'll be met by a mini-craft shop: 

beautiful handcrafts, jewelry, baskets, home decor, and

interesting items from around the world.  Several years ago,

we developed a relationship with Ten Thousand Villages,

the largest Fair Trade organization, and began carrying

their wonderful handcrafted items made by artisans in

developing countries.

The jewelry is so amazing, silver and glass and copper enamel and beads -- so gorgeous and so reasonably priced!  One day a little boy, maybe 5 years old, walked in with his mom and spied the display of jewelry.  His eyes popped open and he exclaimed:  "IS THIS PIRATE TREASURE??"

We've expanded our Fair Trade department!  Lots more jewelry, more scarves and bags, garden pots, table linens...Come see! 

 What is Fair Trade? 

A system of commerce that provides:

• work for otherwise unemployed people
• treats workers fairly and pays them a living wage
• teaches good business practices
• allows workers to rise out of poverty
• allows women to feed and educate children
